'About Beth Camp

I'm standing in the Abbey next to Holyrood Palace, down the hill from Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, on a one-month research trip for Standing Stones. This is where kings and queens have lived since the 16th Century. Part of this historic complex is set aside as a museum, and it's hard not to imagine all that has passed through these halls (including a ghost) since that time.

Today, you'll most likely find me at my netbook, working on the next story in the McDonnell trilogy, still set in mid-19th Century. This time, instead of Scotland (Standing Stones) or Australia (Years of Stone), my story unfolds in the Great Pacific Northwest, home to settlers, fur traders, explorers and a heady mix of Scots, Hawaiians, and Native Americans. Throw in a volcano and international debate over who owns what, and I see conflict everywhere for Dougal McDonnell and his sweetheart, Mary Margaret.

Writing one book takes me about three years, so I anticipate publication of Rivers of Stone sometime in 2016.  May you enjoy your reading!
